This brewer gives very balanced and sweet notes to our cold brew and makes a very nice amount of coffee, perfect for a few days of convenient drinking.
We also appreciate the sophisticated look of the the Hario Mizudashi, but that’s just subjective taste. The carafe is designed well and very handy with its attached handle. This brewer’s filter basket free-stands on the rim of the carafe, and does not need to be vertically locked to the spout/lid before brewing. This enables freer customization of your brew setup when pouring––perhaps when trying a little hot bloom or flash brew!
The Hario Mizudashi also features a removable bottom on the filter basket. This makes cleanup even easier than the other filter-in-bottle models that we have tried.

Kaldi's Coffee
Ingredients
1,150 - 1,200 mL fresh, filtered water
1,150 - 1,200 mL fresh, filtered water
Light to Medium Roasted Coffee
Darker Roasted Coffees
Directions
Light to Medium Roasted Coffee
Grind coffee to a medium-coarse level. It should be a little finer than what you would use for a French press, but more coarse than what you use for drip.
Put ground coffee into filter basket
Saturate the grounds completely with 1,150 to 1,200 mL of fresh, filtered water. Do your best to really agitate the grounds while you pour to ensure even extraction.
Cover brewer and place in a dark spot. Do not place in the refrigerator - ambient temperature is best.
Wait 18-20 hours. Open brewer, remove filter, and refrigerate!
Darker Roasted Coffees
Grind coffee to a coarse level. It should be around what you use for a French Press.
Put ground coffee into filter basket
Saturate the grounds completely with 1,150 to 1,200 mL of fresh, filtered water. Do your best to really agitate the grounds while you pour to ensure even extraction.
Cover brewer and place in a dark spot OR in the refrigerator. Placing in a cool area, like a refrigerator, should result in a little "crisper" brew.
Wait 12-20 hours. Open brewer, remove filter, and refrigerate!
