Tanzania is a region we wish we could feature more often. Its coffees share some of the vibrant character found in Kenyan lots, yet offer a distinct terroir all their own. This selection from Mondul Estate is a great example—full of red fruit notes like cherry, hibiscus, and a touch of strawberry. It’s also notably sweet, with a honeyed quality that brings to mind the best parts of a graham cracker. Complex and balanced, this coffee is a warm invitation to explore the often-overlooked potential of Tanzanian coffee.
MORE INFO
Located in the highlands extending from Mt. Meru in northern Tanzania, Mondul Coffee Estate has produced high-quality Arabica coffee since 1931. The estate is home to over 100 permanent employees who live and work on-site, combining traditional production methods with modern processing practices.
Ripe cherries are selected by hand and pulped within 8 hours of harvest. The coffee is fully fermented for 24 to 36 hours, with a mid-wash occurring 12 to 18 hours into fermentation. After fermentation, the coffee is slowly dried over a period of 21 days. Once the beans reach a moisture level of 10.5%, they are conditioned before being sent to the dry mill for hulling and grading.
Coffee from Mondul Coffee Estate consistently delivers a clean, complex cup and reflects the estate’s long-standing commitment to quality.

We offer three different grind sizes on the vast majority of our coffee offerings: drip, espresso, and French press.
- Use drip grind if you plan on making your coffee using a coffee machine, in a pour over brewer, or if you want to try a newer way to make your trusty French press.
- Use espresso grind if you have an espresso machine at home. This grind will be very fine and will over-extract (in other words, taste bitter and chalky) in other methods.
- Use French press grind if you are making a coffee in the more traditional French Press method, or making cold brew, or do very large batches in a Chemex (greater than 60 grams of coffee).

Please visit our brewing page here. Coffee brewing is as much an art as it is a science, and it might take a few tries for you to find a sweet-spot that matches your taste preference. We recommend not getting too lost in the "right" way to brew, but instead focus on what you like and try to educate yourself on some best practices. And then just take it from there!
That said, we offer several how-to's for many popular brewers:
