On the evening of August 14th, 2021, Brace for IMPACT (BFI) held its annual gala, A Night of Champions. Kaldi’s Coffee was proud to attend and to support the gala in both time and donations. We have partnered with BFI since 2018, and their annual fundraising gala took on even more importance with the recent political and natural disasters in Haiti.
As a postscript to their gala, we thought it was the perfect time to talk again about this amazing organization’s work in Haiti and North St. Louis.
BREW FOR IMPACT: IMPACTING LIVES THROUGH COFFEE
BFI’s mission centers around work in North Saint Louis and Haiti. Formed in 2014, after Cardinal World Champion Kyle McClellan and his wife Bridget took a life-changing trip to Haiti with Adam Wainwright's family, BFI both aims to impact the lives of others, while recognizing the impact service has on those who give. They provide sustainable benefits to those in need regardless of race, gender, or religion.
Since 2018, we have partnered with Brace for Impact in their Brew for Impact coffee blend. The blend is special: consisting of specially sourced green coffee from Haiti and our other seasonal coffees, it directly impacts Haitian farmers through the purchasing of green coffee alone.

Brew for Impact is sold year-round on our and Brace for Impact’s websites. Brew for Impact’s proceeds go towards the IDADEE community in Haiti, and Kaldi's Coffee and BFI do special promotions through the year to aid in work being down in North St. Louis. We are proud to support Haiti by buying green coffee to help support and sustain their coffee sector.
BRACE FOR IMPACT’S WORK IN NORTH ST. LOUIS AND HAITI
Brace for Impact purchases and renovates homes in the North St. Louis area and employs local contractors to conduct the work, in partnership with Tabernacle Community Development Corporation. They then provide these safe, stable homes to families in need. In turn, the families pay rent, attend quarterly seminars that focus on the needs of their family, and volunteer in the community 2-4 hours per month.
A restored home in North St. Louis
Brace for Impact recognizes the importance of family structure, job creation, and education. They equip families with the tools they need for a stable home life long after work on each project is done, in both Haiti and Saint Louis.
Through partnerships and trips to Haiti, Brace for Impact focuses its efforts on the area surrounding Cap-Haitien, in the north of Haiti. Through the IDADEE Children’s Home and schools, a daily meal program for children and their families, the Haitian run medical clinic, CHIDA, and a partnership with Water Mission which has dug wells to serve over 30,000 people with clean water. Brace for Impact is constantly working to make a difference in the daily lives of Haitians.
GIVING BACK
Kaldi’s has been proud to support Brace for Impact over the years financially, and by donating time and resources. We were humbled to have donated items to the Night of Champions’ auction, and thrilled that Brace for Impact successfully out-raised its goal of $500,000 for the evening. We hope that you will consider getting involved with Brace for Impact 46, by donating to either their Haiti or St. Louis fund, or by directly supporting a child in Haiti.
