DESCRIPTION: lemon, cocoa, raw almond, toasted marshmallow

WHY WE LOVE IT: Citrus notes and sugary sweetness abound in this excellent washed coffee. It is our fifth time offering the work of the Nano Genji washing station.

REGION: Agaro Gera, Jimma, Oromia

ALTITUDE: 1,900 - 2,200 m

PROCESSING: Washed

VARIETY: Heirloom Ethiopian Landraces

Sweet and citrusy notes dominate this excellent Ethiopian coffee. Expect playful lemon acidity over a smooth, cocoa-dusted almond note. These tastes combine deliciously with a toasted marshmallow sweetness. It's a slightly different — and very memorable — profile than your standard washed Ethiopian coffee, and we think it's one you'll keep coming back to.

MORE INFO:

We are proud to present the work of Nano Genji for the fifth time. This year, we have selected lot #8. It has been exciting to watch the continued growth and excellence of the Nano Genji washing station from year to year. Between the two washing stations, this community is made up of 630 members.

The Oromia region is widely known for its supreme quality. This lot was mechanically washed then soaked for 12 hours, and its excellence is a testament to the work of a cooperative that pays its members high premiums and relentlessly focuses on quality, from picking to processing.

About Ethiopia: Ethiopia is the birthplace of coffee. For centuries, coffee has grown freely in backyards, on small family farms, and across the countryside, cultivating thousands of unique coffee varieties. The vast genetic diversity of Ethiopian coffee creates a spectrum of flavors‚ from delicate flowers, to ripe stone fruit, to bold berries‚ making Ethiopia one of the most loved and enjoyed coffee origins in the world.
