Mexico Ozolotepec
Regular price €17,95
DESCRIPTION: baked apple, butterscotch, fig bar
WHY WE LOVE IT: Like autumn in a cup, our roasting team described this coffee as "golden" for its creamy butterscotch sweetness and apple pie-like fruitiness.
REGION: Santa Cruz Ozolotepec, Oaxaca
ALTITUDE: 1,550 - 1,750 m
PROCESSING METHOD: Washed
VARIETY: Criollo, Marsellesa
We love the qualities of this lot. It's both simple in its sweetness and vibrant in its fruitiness. The coffee leads with the creamy and caramel-y sweetness of butterscotch candy, which is complemented by the baked apple note. It has a shortbread quality that combines with the deeper fruitiness of fig, which reminds us of biting into a soft fig bar. Everything works together and makes for a cup that is easy to drink and fun to explore.
MORE INFO:
Coffees from Mexico are always popular with our guests and customers. We have been releasing coffees from Oaxaca for many years now, and now we are brining back this coffee from Ozolotepec for the second time.
The producers at Ozolotepec are members of the larger coop UNECAFE. Producing mostly washed coffees, they also grow with sustainability in mind by growing their coffee in shade. This method aids in the prominence of diverse, native species, as it provides refuge for species of many plants and fauna all while helping to preserve the soil.
With no proper road connecting the farm to the town, mules are used to bring the finished coffee bags to export. This is just another example of the remarkable journey that coffee takes to get to your cup. We are incredibly grateful to be able to present the work of this community for the second time.
