The brightest starts to my brightest days involve someone handing me a fresh brewed coffee, the rustle of a pastry bag, a dead giveaway that the morning’s going to be alright. As a barista since 2003, I’ve been on the other end of that moment, but even today, there’s a real pleasure in waking early, making coffee, and watching eyes light up as they catch sight of the mug. This year, we're aiming for that moment by keeping one drink around a little longer, and bringing back another favorite that's so good we've created a cocktail with it and given you the recipe.
The Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte
You love it, we love serving it, so the Brown Sugar Rosemary Latte is staying a little later than usual this year, so come enjoy the sweetness of rosemary, vanilla, and brown sugar just a little longer.
Pistachio Goat Cheese Toast
Enjoy the zing of the new this year, as this toast is full of fresh flavors. We start with Companion’s sourdough, slather a creamy layer of goat cheese mixed with cream cheese across it, then cut through the cream with a bright raspberry jam, before bringing all the flavors with a dusting of diced pistachio. Pardon the pictures, I didn’t have a food processor in the studio, so we’re showing chunks instead of diced pistachio. Trust me, if you’re a goat cheese fan, you don’t want to miss this one!
Brown Butter Chai Latte
Flavor pops might be the theme of the year, as this drink brings all the goodness of Firepot Tea’s chai concentrate and pushes to the next level with the savory addition of a cafe-created brown-butter syrup. A mix of maple syrup, honey, browned butter, and brown sugar, it’s like wrapping yourself in a candied blanket of warming chai. I highly recommend it.
Cherry Chai Scone
Rolling along with chai, which is one of my favorite cold-weather indulgences (though it’s great iced!), we head to the pastry case, which our bakers fill each morning, long before most of us wake. The Cherry Chai Scone is a doozy, bursting with spice notes of clove, cinnamon, cardamom, and ginger, topped with dried cherries, and drizzled with a custom icing created using Firepot Tea’s Chai Concentrate in yet another clever way.
Orange Almond Muffin
For those of you who prefer a lighter flavor profile for breakfast, the light, bright sweetness of our Orange Almond Muffin hits beneath the crunch of turbinado sugar topping. I’m also thrilled to tell you that this muffin is made without gluten ingredients and is also vegan-friendly, bringing a great tasting option for everyone to our seasonal offerings.
Oatmeal Butterscotch Cookie
Our final new bakery item is an afternoon escape - I know when I’m out taking pictures or recording reels I crave a sugar rush and my first choice is always a cookie to lift me through the afternoon. This cookie does not disappoint, as the comforting oatmeal batter is peppered with butterscotch chips.
Cinnamon Cardamom Latte
This time of year just isn’t complete without the addition of our Cinnamon Cardamom Latte. A cafe favorite for years now, the Cinnamon Cardamom Latte blends the sweet delight of our house-made cinnamon and cardamom simple syrup with espresso and a blanket of warm, steamed milk. This syrup is so popular we created a cocktail recipe using it as a base. A heady combination of sugar and spice, the Cinnamon Cardamom Latte blends the best of all worlds into one unmissable latte.
This year, we want to make your eyes light up when you walk in our doors -that moment when the murmur of the cafe, whir of beans grinding, room filled with the smell of brewing coffee and pastries fresh from the oven fills you with comfort and the joy can’t help show on your face. Come visit with us and put a little light in your eyes before greeting the rest of the day. We love sharing that moment with you.
