When you’re in the mood for a delicious twist on the classic Old Fashioned cocktail, our Brown Sugar Rosemary Old Fashioned is a true crowd pleaser.  Starting with the simple syrup we create in our very own cafes for the Brown Sugar Rosemary latte, your house will fill with the scent of rosemary and caramelized sugars.  A dash of coffee, a few shots of whiskey, a bit of bitters and you’re done! The best part is, the morning after festivities, you’ll have an amazing simple syrup ready for your morning brew.

Brown Sugar Rosemary Old Fashioned

Ingredients

  • 0.5 Cup Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1 Rosemary Sprig
  • .75 TSP Vanilla Extract
  • Dash of Salt
  • Whiskey (We recommend a Still 630 rye or Big Jake)
  • Brown Sugar Rosemary Simple Syrup
  • Kaldi’s Canned Cold Brew or homemade cold brew
  • Bitters
  • Rosemary Garnish

Directions

  1. Combine sugar and water in pot, bring to boil while stirring continuously
  2. Reduce to a simmer, add rosemary
  3. After 3 minutes at a simmer, remove from heat
  4. Remove rosemary, strain syrup if necessary
  5. Stir in vanilla and salt
  6. Use or refrigerate. Refrigerated syrup lasts 10 days.
  7. Add ice to a mixing glass or drink shaker
  8. Add 2 oz of whiskey
  9. Add 1 oz of Brown-Sugar Rosemary Syrup
  10. Add 1 oz of Cold Brew
  11. Add 2 dashes of Bitters
  12. Stir vigorously
  13. Strain and pour into glass, over ice
  14. Garnish with a sprig of rosemary and serve
