Mexico Oaxaca La Cañada

WHY WE LOVE IT: La Cañada makes a cup that is endlessly drinkable and suitable for any level of coffee drinker, especially if you are a lover of very nutty coffees.

ALTITUDE: 1,200-1,500 m

PROCESSING METHOD: Washed, sun-dried

VARIETY: Mundo Novo, Bourbon, Typica, and Criollo

What started as a main component of our blends has become one of our most pleasant yearly offerings. It offers a wonderful and crowd-pleasing balance of sweetness and acidity, and provides a very clear representation of coffees from the region. A healthy dose of nuttiness, a nice cocoa note, and a soft apple acidity make for a cup that is endlessly drinkable and suitable for any level of the coffee journey. 

The humidity and altitude present in the Cañada region of Oaxaca, Mexico, create ideal conditions for growing coffee. Union de Productores Las Flores is based in this region in the town of Eloxochitlán de Flores Magón. Here, each member owns .5 - 3 hectares, wet milling the coffee at their own mills before transporting their coffee in parchment to the UPLF beneficio. The majority of La Cañada farmers, pickers, and beneficio workers still speak the indigenous language of the region. 

As a medium roast, Mexico La Cañada is a coffee that you can drink with breakfast, after breakfast, and then splurge on an afternoon cup. We are proud to present the work of the La Cañada farmers again in 2022.
