For National Coffee Day 2020, we sold a limited amount of these extremely special, hand-painted burlap coffee bags at our St. Louis DeMun cafe. Now, we're offering a few of them up to our online customers, as well!
Each bag has unique artwork, and the one you receive will be random (but they are all beautiful). The pictures attached give an idea of the themes, but cherry colors may change from bag to bag, or some might have houses painted on them, etc... Regardless of what you receive, we know you will love it!
Even better, proceeds from the sale of these bags go straight back to Gold Mountain Coffee Growers to help with their projects and sustainability.
Sold out? Inventories will be updated every Tuesday morning at 7:00 AM CST while supplies last.
Our relationship with Gold Mountain Coffee Growers is near and dear to our hearts, and these bags are a fantastic representation of the creativity and pride of the producers and farmers. In a recent interview with Ben Weiner, he described the genesis and status of the bag program like this:
"The hand-painted bags have now become a year-round source of employment for local artists in Nicaragua. Ever since seeing a beautifully-painted bag at Ben Bows Coffee years ago when it was owned by Ron and Karen Greenberg, I'd had in my mind having beautiful artwork on coffee bags and having local artists find employment through this win-win of an idea. After more than a decade, we've finally found artists who could make this project happen. Now every one of our coffee bags, including our 34.5 kilogram vacuum-sealed, nitrogen-flushed wooden boxes, is hand-painted with cool artwork."
These make for an excellent addition to any home, and can be used in a variety of crafty ways (frame them, make them into a pillow covers, etc...).
