Costa Rican coffee producers have been at the forefront of efforts to innovate and push quality forward for years. By taking control of their production at various micro-mills throughout the country and experimenting with processing in a variety of ways, these producers have sent some of the most exciting coffees around the world in recent years.
At Kaldi’s, we’ve been working with the exporters at Exclusive Coffees for some time now, supporting their work in developing and expanding production by working with these mills throughout the country. This coffee — the first of two we’ve nabbed from them this season — showcases the work of producer Tacho Castro, the La Roca farm, and the Juana Chute micro-mill. As a red honey-processed coffee, meaning more mucilage was left on the coffee seed as it dried, it presents a rich, candied-fruit sweetness and smooth, full body.
