2017 marks the tenth consecutive year we have bought coffee from our partners in Monserrate, Colombia. It is our longest standing relationship and one of our favorites. We visited Monserrate again in August this year where we judged in their annual best of Monserrate competition and visited the village and farms. The village itself is located in southwest Huila along the Cordillera mountain range, near the larger town of La Plata (two short plane rides and two bus rides from Bogota). The weather this year has been particularly hard for the growers, and as a result, their yields are down. The quality, though, is as good as ever. We are always amazed at how good this coffee is, year after year. In addition to buying the microlots from a few of the producers, we also buy the Community Lot. After the competition, the top 10 coffees are set aside to be bought individually. All the other coffee is blended together into what we call the Community Lot. We are excited to once again offer you this coffee. Cheers to years to come.
