Mt. Kenya is home to some of the most unique and vibrant coffees in the world. Along the slopes of Africa’s second-highest peak, you’ll find thousands of smallholder farmers growing some of the world’s most sought-after coffee. In Kenya, these producers organize regionally into farmers cooperative societies, where they come together to wash, ferment, and dry their coffees to bring out that ubiquitous Kenya acidity.
Our newest coffee from Kenya arrives from the Kevote Factory, one of three washing stations serving the 1,555 members of the Kirurumwe Farmers Cooperative Society along the eastern slope of Mt. Kenya. This peaberry lot is rich, creamy, and complex, with a classically tart citrus acidity balanced with warm spices and notes of tropical fruit and custard. We think it’s an excellent change of pace from the light and delicate flavors typical of Kenyan coffee.
