We are thrilled to once again offer a microlot produced by Roger and Isabel Mairena. For many years, we’ve cultivated a relationship with smallholder farmers in Matagalpa and Jinotega, Nicaragua, through our partners at Gold Mountain Coffee Growers. This exciting partnership has given us the privilege of visiting, tasting, and offering coffees from producers like Don Roger and Isabel year after year as they grow their farms and continue to produce excellent coffees.
For the last 15 years, Don Roger and his family have grown coffee on their farm, Las Mercedes, where he applies his training in agronomy to cultivate bourbon, caturra, pache, and geisha on 13 hectares. For eight years now we’ve purchases coffee from Don Roger. Over that time, we’ve watched -- and tasted -- Roger and Isabel’s improvements to Las Mercedes, including his investment in a brand new wet mill which allows them to better control their washing and fermentation. This year’s bourbon and caturra lot tastes like a deliciously balanced blend of deep, red fruit with roasted almonds.
This coffee is exclusively available on our website.
