The Nano Challa washing station produces some of the most celebrated coffee in all of Western Ethiopia. Intense, lively, and sparkling — these offerings exemplify what makes Ethiopian coffees so wonderful.
Just 10 years ago, the region’s coffees were undifferentiated from other offerings, blended in with the rest of the coffees going through the Ethiopian Commodities Exchange. But, with some help from Red Fox Coffee Merchant founder Aleco Chigounis and USAID’s Technoserve project, the Nano Challa washing station was founded and these special coffees have made their way into the world.
Over the past decade, the work of these producers has grown in popularity, and as a reward, premiums have consistently increased. Just this past year, membership grew so much that they had to add an additional washing station to serve the 630+ members. Because of Red Fox’s investment in this mill’s work, they have the honor of first selection from each harvest. This means that you have a chance to experience a top coffee from one of the top groups of producers in the world.
