Ask any coffee professional their favorite growing region and Colombia is more than likely near the top of the list. The diversity of taste profiles from the region is perhaps second to none, and better quality than ever is coming from this dedicated and innovative sector of coffee producers. Florals, chocolates, tropical fruits, apples - all can be found in one coffee or another from this famed origin.
Count us in that group. After many months of many delicious coffees hailing from other growing regions around the world, we felt more than ready to launch our latest offering from Colombia (so much so that rearranged our rollout calendar just to get this one out as soon as possible!).
The wait was well worth it with this stunning coffee from Arnulfo Leguizamo. The winner of the 2011 Colombian Cup of Excellence, Arnulfo is a dedicated farmer that also aspires to lift those around him to higher quality through education and leadership. After trying out several Colombian coffees, we selected his fully Caturra lot as our inaugural Colombian single origin release of 2022.
The cup dazzles, offering notes of cherry cordial, raspberry iced tea, and burnt sugar. We particularly enjoyed the interplay of cherry and black iced tea bitters, creating a balanced fruitiness with a lovely structure. We waited a while for a new Colombian release, but we can safely say it was well worth it.
All that said, this coffee won't be around for long! We were only able to secure 6 bags, which generally lasts us a few weeks in our cafes and online. Enjoy!
