Tigist Waqo Natural: Tigist Waqo has been in coffee for over 22 years. Her farm is 8 hectares (about 20 acres) and sits over 2000 meters above sea level.
Ardi Natural: Grown in Ethiopia’s famed Sidama region, Ardi ticks all the boxes for incredible flavor. In this blend, it contributes a clean complexity and rich, fruity sweetness. It was also included in this year's 'Tis the Season blend.
It's no secret that we love Ethiopian coffee. Each year, we taste many exceptional coffees from various regions and then stress over which ones to choose. So, we asked ourselves a question: what if we made it easier on ourselves and combined three very different, very delicious coffees from Ethiopia into one distinctive blend? What if this mix of processes, regions, and flavors together represented the best of what Ethiopia has to offer? Thus, 3thiopia was born, and are thrilled to present our third iteration of this very popular blend.
The first of two natural components is becoming more and more familiar here: Ethiopia Ardi. Named in honor of the origins of both man and coffee, Ardi has been the flagship coffee of our importing partners, Keffa Coffee, since 2009. For the pulped natural component, we are proud to bring back the work of Suke Quto. The farm has a relentless focus on quality and conservation, and we are proud to make their pulped natural lot a part of 3thiopia for a second time. Finally, the second natural component is from female producer Tigist Waqo. Her coffee is quickly becoming an annual tradition for us. We first bought her coffee for our popular 'Tis the Season blend in 2019, and this year's lot is once again of exceptional quality and lends the blend its deep red fruity characteristics.
What began as a fun experiment evolved into a palate-defying symphony of flavor. The three coffees come together as one incredible blend, showing off the best of Ethiopia’s diverse flavor profile. Stone fruit, berries, sweets, and teas — this blend features them all, and something new presents itself with each brew. Three exceptional lots harvested from coffee’s original home, 3thiopia is the result of a wild experiment gone incredibly right.
