This years offering is from Nyeri region, part of the Aughti Farmer’s Cooperative Society, Thageini. This Co-op was created in 2004, consists of 4 other factories, and roughly 4,000 farmers. The day to day operations are overseen by an elected board of 7 members, as well as 60 permanent staff members. This co-op is well known for it’s consistently high quality coffees and environmentally sustainable practices, such as creating multiple seepage tanks and streams to treat processing water and help preserve local rivers.
